Thermal Imaging

Thermal Imaging

Electricity causes heat as it travels through your wiring. Sometimes where high resistance joints and circuit overloading are present, this heating can become excessive and may lead to an electrical fire. The impact on your business is two-fold – not only is there the potential destruction from fire but there is also the downtime due to power supply interruption.

ATTS are able to perform one of the most valuable diagnostic tools; Preventative Maintenance, by conducting Thermal Imaging of your wiring to prevent an electrical fire. Thermal Imaging is an effective and efficient way of testing wiring; it minimises the downtime and labour costs associated with the more traditional forms of testing. Thermal imaging detects anomalies often invisible to the naked eye and allows corrective action to be taken before costly system failures occur.

Technology advancements in thermal imaging equipment have assisted in developing a highly sophisticated, non-contact temperature measurement and analysis procedure. Infrared sensitive semi-conductor materials located within the camera's detector sends signals to a mathematic processor which digitally generates an image.

Advantages For Businesses

Advantages can vary depending on the service or product provided. Thermal Imaging can:

  • Reduce downtime if a fault is found that prevents a switchboard fire.
  • Reduce the chance of your business catching fire due to an electrical fire and destroying your livelihood.
  • Prevent damage to equipment that has high resistant joints.
  • Also be a requirement for most insurance companies which then have the added benefit of reducing your premiums. (Check this with your insurance provider);
  • As well as having numerous other benefits.
  • In a recent case, our client, a butcher, had a fault in a switchboard which burnt out one evening on a weekend. All stock was lost due to the refrigeration shutting down, which not only resulted in losing thousands of dollars in stock but also resulted in the loss of business to other retailers as the clubs & hotels he was providing meat for had to look elsewhere.
